Now I am not complaining but I was wondering why TQ was not entered in the race that follows the one she is entered in next week? It would seem to be a better race? Not complaining but just asking. Thanks in advance
Thanks for the question. The fifth race on Thursday, while it is a $7,500N3L, is not restricted to fillies and mares. You do not often see girls facing boys, especially at this level. We do see 2-year-olds early in the season in cross gender battle but not so much when they are older. I can't think of an older thoroughbred mare beating boys yet this year.It is not unheard of certainly. We saw Rachel Alexandra win The Preakness, but she is a special case and bucked decades of history. In my opinion it has much to do with the pace demands of the race. The boys are faster, relatively speaking, than the girls.jm
