Terice will be going in Friday’s 5th race at Hawthorne. Emmanuel Esquivel replaces Tim Thornton on board.
The race is a $5000 claiming race going a mile and a sixteenth over the main track. As mentioned earlier, we are trying to entice a claim since it’s getting to be that time of the year for us.
Preview to come! Good luck!
So what happens if you don;t get a claim? Have to find a buyer?
Correct.
Let’s go out with a win and a claim then with Terice. It would be a good end to her season with the Racing Club!
How much would we expect or ask for her…. Assuming she doesn’t get claimed. And I suppose it’s the same for MJ.
Try to get their last claiming prices.
I don’t know if this helps or not, but as a 3 year member of the club (and I’ll continue since it is so much fun)…..if the horses don’t get claimed I do believe Ted and Clay try to get the best price possible — but it unlikely they can get the full $5K last claiming price. There are certainly complicated tax and licensing reasons to dissolve the partnership every year and start anew in the spring. Those that would buy our horses have the same complicated situations as well. It just is what it is.
I just thank Canterbury for organizing this at all. It is a great benefit of having committed local owners of our track. Not everyone is so lucky.
You are so right. I’ve been a member since Crown the Cat. I have loved each and every year and horses. It has been a blast and I will continue as long as they will let me join!! We must also thank Curt Sampson who backs us on the $ side!! Thanks all that are involved and I hop our new jockey will take Terice to the winner’s circle!!
And Ted — I so appreciate your pre-race write ups! They are well beyond what I would expect. I made a tidy sum on MJ last week and your analysis really helped me commit. I now own…..a case of reasonable wine….on the backs of the Chicago bettors that didn’t believe.
I’m happy that worked out! It’s not often that a race unfolds the way you think it might. And when you put it out there for the world, you can fail spectacularly (been there, too!!). Enjoy!
