We’ve got about 10-days left to get the rollover forms in place if you are rejoining as well as the sign up form if you’re a new member. Right now we’re running behind last year’s record breaking numbers – mostly because most of the 34 folks who chose to join the “intermediate” Alumni Group decided to not rejoin the Club this year (though they are certainly free to do so!) – so there looks to be more opportunity to get into the paddock as fewer members means fewer paddock groups and more repeat trips! However it may also mean that we start with one horse instead of two and “grow” into more if we can win a few early. I’ve attached the forms below for your convenience.
Mary Rampinelli of the Daily Racing Form is reporting that Manny Esquivel, regular Hawthorne pilot for MARYJEAN and TERICE as well as author of our five consecutive wins to end the season, was thrown from his mount in the first turn of the first race at Oaklawn today. He was placed on a backboard and was transported to a local hospital. There is no indication of how badly Manny is hurt and the backboard may have just been a precaution, but any thoughts and prayers you can send his way I’m sure would be appreciated. When I get more of an update, I will post it. Speedy recovery, Manny!

So sorry to hear about Emanuel. He was scheduled to ride tomorrow on Switch er Up in the 3rd race at Oaklawn. That’s the same race that MARY JEAN WILL BE RUNNING IN. Both will carry the same weight but, Mary Jean comes in at closer odds at 5/3. I will follow it on Horse Races Now app though, Oaklawn does not allow watching races in actual time. Best healing wishes to Manny and safe trip wishes to Mary Jean. I wish that I could follow Terice but I haven’t found her yet.
TERICE is taking some time off for the winter. Expect to see her back at Fonner Park before she heads to Canterbury for the summer.
Thanks Ted. I’ll look up Fonner Park
I’m hoping that Manny isn’t hurt too badly. Please keep us up to date on his injuries. Thanks for all of the updates with the Club this year. Can’t wait!!! Good luck, Mary Jean!!!
This was posted a couple hours ago … Good news.

Oaklawn: Esquivel OK
Jockey Manny Esquivel, who was thrown in the first turn in the opener Thursday at Oaklawn, left a local hospital about 20 minutes ago and is cleared to ride, said his agent, Ben Allen.
Esquivel hit the ground hard, Allen said. The wind was knocked out of the rider and he was taken to a local hospital for tests after experiencing head, neck and chest pain. The X-rays were negative, said Allen. A CAT scan was also performed, said Allen.
“The doctor cleared him for everything,” said Allen.
So glad Manny is OK, thanks for the update. Go Maryjean! I’ll try and watch the race, hopefully TVG will have it.
Thanks for the updates on Manny!!! I’m so glad that he is cleared for riding!! 🙂
I see Maryjean won and got claimed again today… Poor girl she will never know where her home is..
Apparently it was a 19-way shake for her!!
Wow 19 way lots of folks wanted her
Maryjean, back with $5000 claimers, wins going away at Oaklawn and is promptly claimed out of the race. Good luck MJ with your new connections!!
Maybe good that MARY JEAN WON today. Maybe bad because she was claimed by Jeanette and Andrew Milligan. Sad to see her out of Maggie’s hands though, I don’t know that she belongs to WHOA. I hope that MJ fares well with the new owner. Manny came in 3rd with Switchen er Up six lengths behind Mary Jean.
