As we head to the post on Sunday, we do have a Club spot at Silks, just look for the posted signs. I don’t know if it will be inside or outside. Get to know each other a bit! We’ll be down prior to the race at some point. Usually from our vantage point at Silks (or close enough) we can see her walk over and come down the walkway on the way to the paddock. It’s a really good photo op!
Here is the race analysis from the Canterbury website:
Miz Owell has won back-to-back races including two starts back in a $7,500 claiming race at Laurel as the favorite and at the $10,000 price here last time as the favorite. The second and third place finishers in the race at Laurel won their next start. She has already faced and been victorious against many of these she will be facing here today including Emma Lea’s Song and She’s Mighty Fast.
Shesa Sweet Secret has been showing a lot of early speed in both of her starts in 2016. She was in an allowance race two starts back at Arlington Park where she led to the ¼ pole before giving way and finishing 6th. Last time, she was in an allowance race on the turf here where she took the lead but could not keep up the pace and finished 4th behind favorite Fine Assay in that race. There may not be a lot of early speed here, so if she can get to the lead and set a slow pace, she might be able to finish a bit better and could be an upset threat at 12-1 on the morning line.
Lamazone raced well this past winter at Turf Paradise, winning two of four starts there including an allowance race and a $12,500 claiming race last time. She has not raced since March 20, but trainer Dan McFarlane gets them ready after the layoff winning at a 23% rate. She would benefit much more if Shesa Sweet Secret sets a fast pace or is pressured on the lead.
If tomorrows race happens to be taken off the turf should heavy rains develop this evening, will Miz Owell be scratched or will she run a mile on the main track? Hope the weather forecasters are wrong and we have a nice firm turf course for her race. Good luck to all tomorrow!
There is a high probability that she would scratch. She’s run on an off track twice and missed the board both times.
Any update on the weather and the chances of running today?
No rain overnight that I am aware of and today there is not a cloud in the sky.
