ALERT: ALL Clubbers will be on the list to attend the races this week!! Same procedure: get your temp taken at the front door (masked up), go over to the ticket window to your left and pick up your ticket. Your admission is good for the track level during racing. Just a reminder – we cannot go into the paddock but I will be standing outside the paddock by our number (4) if you want to join me. We’ll sort out a LIMITED winners’ circle if it comes to that.
Satellite kicks off the card on Monday night. The race is a $4000 claiming race for horses that have not won a race in 2020 or 4 races lifetime going a mile on the dirt. We’re breaking from post four with Ry Eikleberry aboard. We’re 2-1 on the morning line behind Herbie, just to our outside
Logan’s Leopard (Rumsey/Arrieta) – Possessor of early speed, we managed to handle this one last out when he faded through the turn. His early turn of foot could prove to be important.
Money Broker (Gawarecki/Butler) – Another from Satellite’s next race. Satellite managed to finish 6 1/2 lengths in front of him. Another with some speed early.
Purple Sky (Eidschun/Harr) – You guessed it, another from our race. Ran a relatively flat 5th.
SATELLITE (BROBERG/EIKLEBERRY)
Herbie (Villafranco/Loveberry) – Was third to Trapalanda who was second on July 1 in a $20,000 optional claiming race. Tends to always be competitive and should be on the lead early.
Aquamarine (Eidschun/Arroyo) – First local start since last summer when he capped off his season with a 2nd at this level. Back to the races after a last out on May 11 at Will Rogers.
The key to this race will be how the early part of the race plays out. Should Herbie get an uncontested lead and is able to lollygag around the track, he may have plenty left at the end to hold off any rally. The track has certainly been playing to speed, so that could be a little concerning as well.
However, it doesn’t appear that Herbie is the only speed in the race. The two horses on the inside have some early go to them as well. If the three go out together and Herbie is pressured up front and we can sit behind that, it shouldn’t matter how fast the track is playing if they can start tiring up front – as all three have shown that they have been recently – then we have an excellent shot at notching back to back wins. It’s going to be exciting to watch it play out!
GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!
