TENS 3rd; CITRON KID Joins the Barn

Leandro Goncalves did all he could, but he just couldn’t keep our guy together the entire way for a gate to wire victory Saturday.

TENS broke very sharply and Leandro found himself up front.  He tried to set the pace and cut very reasonable fractions of :25.8 for the quarter and :50.21 for the half mile.  When I saw the half mile fraction I was very optimistic that we could wire the field.

The last 200 yards though, DR. ACTION and SOUND EFFECT both started grinding our boy down with both catching him by a head in a very close finish.

TENS came back fine.  We went back to the barn to go see him and he was tired but eating up and doing well.  He will walk for three to five days and then head back to the track, then we will start looking for his next race.

We also claimed our second horse out of that race, CITRON KID.  CITRON KID is a speedy 5-year old gelding by Lemon Drop Kid.  He’s 5 of 22 lifetime but 5 of 9 since breaking his maiden last year.  He loves the turf and loves the front end.

He ran fairly for most of the race but faded in the lane yet still only finished 2 1/2 lengths off the winner.  He seemed to come back to the barn okay and was doing well when we got back there.

This is his 3rd barn in about a month so he seemed a bit mystified and unsettled.  We got him some grass and he gobbled that up and that seemed to jump start his appetite a bit and he started going after his grain.  It will take him some time to settle in.  He also will walk for a bit before going to the track and then Clay will evaluate him and we’ll determine his next steps.

TENS in Saturday

TENS WILD is in this Saturday afternoon on Mystic Lake Mile/Lady Canterbury Stakes day.

TENS will break out of post 1 with Leandro Goncalves aboard.  There are eight in the race and it didn’t come up easy.  Clay has Dr Action in here again and the 5/2 morning line favorite on the outside is Midwest Thoroughbreds’ Sweeping Victory.

It looks like we’re going to have a spot in Silks reserved for us and Group 2 will take over paddock responsibilities!

Good luck!

Racing Sunday; New Club Twitter Account

TENS WILD is in! We’re racing in the 4th race on Sunday. The race is a $16,000 claiming race going a mile and 70 yards over the turf with a purse of $22,000. We’ll be breaking from post six in the field of ten with Leandro Goncalves aboard. The approximate post time will be 2:12 central time. We’ll have a preview up here on Saturday.

Sunday is Father’s Day so there may be a shortage of space for us to have a singular gathering location, but Jeff is going to check for us. I’ll let you know.

The Club now has a Twitter feed. We’ll be using that to shoot out some quick hits. Today, for example, we saw that Maryjean is entered for Sunday at Lone Star, so we tweeted that for interested folks. We’ll also use it as another form of disseminating information. Sometimes it’s easier to get info out there quickly and then follow it up later in the day with a more expanded post here. The Blog isn’t going away, we’re just enhancing the flow of information.
