Vanderboom Ridge ran a flat 4th this afternoon at Hawthorne. He broke well and went to the lead but was passed heading down the backside. It looked like he might have flinched a little there straightening out but certainly not enough to have cost him anything.
He settled in 3rd down the backside and on the turn for home looking like if he could have any closing kick at all he had some space between horses but he was asked and just couldn’t close. It could have been the yielding turf course or a bit of rust with the time between races.
We’ll see how he comes back and come right back in a spot like this one in 2-3 weeks.
